How to choose safe essential oils

How to choose safe essential oils

Essential oils are awesome, but it’s important to know that the quality of all the different brands of essential oils are not the same!

I love to put lemon essential oil in my water when I don’t have fresh lemons available and I like to add a drop or two of peppermint essential oil to my smoothies sometimes to make them minty.  But, if you look at the labels on the oils you buy at natural food stores, they say to not ingest them!

Even the ones that claim to be pure and therapeutic say “do not ingest” right on the label. This really bothers me because when I diffuse my essential oils at home, I know that the oils are actually going into my body because I’m breathing it in (like cigarette smoke).  When I apply the oils topically on my face or to the bottom of my feet I know they are being absorbed under my skin and into my body.

So, how can you use any of the oils they sell in the retail stores?  My answer, you shouldn’t! Make sure to only use 100% pure therapeutic-grade oils if you decide to use essential oils.  There are a couple of companies out there who make 100% pure therapeutic-grade essential oils, so just make sure it’s the kind that will be safe to ingest and you’re good!
